Features

The Wide Blue Steel 3FW leaves a generous 13mm length for a longer, plush body finish that retains more coat and cuts back on follow up scissoring. Its longer, wider stainless steel comb teeth move through the coat as they cut, covering more body with every pass. The moving edge is a SuperZirconia ceramic cutter. Ceramic is far harder than steel, so it takes a keener edge and holds it long after a steel cutter would have dulled, for a plush, even finish. It runs cool through long sessions, comfortable for the dog and kind to the skin.

  • A SuperZirconia ceramic cutter, harder and sharper than steel, for a plush, even 13mm body finish
  • Runs cool through long sessions, gentle on warm, sensitive skin and easier on an anxious dog
  • Holds a keen edge far longer than a steel cutter, so it dulls and wears down much more slowly
  • Pre sharpened, its longer, wider teeth moving through thick coats as they cut to retain length and reduce scissoring
  • Rust free ceramic that wipes clean in seconds

For a longer, sculpted body finish that retains more coat, the Wide Blue Steel 3FW gives you a wider, cooler, sharper cut that lasts. It fits Andis, Oster, Heiniger and every other A5 clipper.

Grooming tips

A little preparation makes clipping smoother and helps your blade do its best work.

  1. Start with a clean, dry coat. Brush out loose hair and gently comb through tangles first. Do not force a blade through tight mats; ask a professional groomer for help if the coat is matted close to the skin.
  2. Choose the finish before you start. This 3FW blade leaves approximately 13 mm. Coat texture, preparation and clipping direction affect the finished look. If you are unsure, start with a longer length and test a small area.
  3. Let the blade glide. Use light pressure and smooth, overlapping passes with the flat of the blade against the coat. Stop if it drags or pulls instead of pushing harder.
  4. Keep checking comfort. Check blade temperature frequently and pause or change to a cool blade when needed. Give the dog a break if they become restless or uncomfortable.

For this wide blade: use the extra width on broad, even body areas. Switch to a narrower, suitable blade for awkward contours and detailed work.

Care & maintenance
  1. Clear away hair and debris. Switch the clipper off before removing the blade or brushing it clean. Clean both the teeth and the back of the blade with a soft blade brush.
  2. Oil regularly. Use clipper-blade oil at the contact points, following the clipper and oil instructions. Wipe away excess before clipping. Cooling spray is not a substitute for proper oiling.
  3. Watch the temperature. Every blade can warm up in use. Check it regularly and allow it to cool, or swap to a spare, before continuing.
  4. Clean after each groom. Use a suitable blade cleaner or disinfectant as directed, including its contact time. Remove residue, dry thoroughly and re-oil before storing.
  5. Protect the teeth in storage. Keep the blade dry and protected from knocks. Do not use a blade with chipped or damaged teeth.

If a clean, oiled blade still pulls, stop and check that it is fitted correctly. The cutter or your clipper's blade drive may need attention. Contact us for help choosing the right replacement instead of guessing.

Frequently asked questions
Will this blade fit my clipper?
It fits a compatible detachable A5 clipper. A5 blades do not fit VUNRO D-Series clippers or the FlexFit PRO, MaxFit PRO and PawTrim blade systems. Check your model in our blade compatibility guide, or send us the model name if you are unsure.
How much coat does this blade leave?
The 3FW is rated at 13 mm. That is a guide to the finish, not a promise that every coat will look identical. Clipping against the coat's growth generally gives a closer result than clipping with it.
Can I use a guard comb over it?
Use only a guard-comb set made for wide A5 blades and check its supported blade numbers. Standard-width guard combs do not fit a wide blade.
Why is my blade pulling or leaving lines?
Check for tangles, trapped hair, a dry blade or an incorrect fit first. Clean and oil it, check the temperature, and use light, even passes. If the problem continues, stop and ask us for advice; pressing harder can make it worse.
Can I replace the cutter without replacing the whole blade?
Replacement cutters are available for A5 blades. Match the cutter to the blade's size, width and type: standard, wide and skip-tooth cutters are not all interchangeable. Ask us to check the match if you need a hand.
How do I buy several blades together?
When a bundle offer is available on this page, use “Choose your blades & save” near the Add to cart button. Select the blades you want in the bundle section and check the displayed total and offer terms before adding the bundle to your cart.
